my no buy year also went KABUEY and it was an emotional reaction to my cat almost dying, and then i could never get back on the beam. bUT SIMILARLY i am making more mindful and in person purchases, and that felt like a course correction. and of course i'm going to write it all down lol
also found like three unopened No. 7's in my mother's bathroom-- stole one, and am convinced it's the best we got out here too
Wait, writing talk, Emily Adrian, and searching for the perfect mascara and jeans while at the same time trying not to buy cosmetics and clothing? I think this is my new fave place. I actually came online to write a review for this new Dior stuff that give me a great false eyelash look without the false eyelashes, but it is very hard to get off and kind of gummy (and I somehow ended up back on Substack, as one does, I suppose). Anyway! Great post.
That’s the mascara I’ve found to be closest to No. 7! I agree it’s not perfect but it’s pretty close. I also recently bought a refillable tubing mascara from a girl on tiktok who started a business to make mascara usage more sustainable (and less toxic.) I haven’t tried it yet but I love the concept and I’m intrigued! https://aercosmetics.co/
Chelsea, I’m so grateful for the major work you do researching these psychological triggers and responses— yesterday after The Fountain post I started a little devotion journal where i jot down something quick i feel energized by/joy for in my writing practice 💖
Also, i have a mascara rec— the Milani anti gravity. Report back!
Hi! I'm sorry I missed this until now, but you are correct: I do have thoughts! I like Pangaia (https://pangaia.com/collections/womens-activewear), Mate (https://matethelabel.com), and Groceries (https://groceriesapparel.com/). That said, I haven't done a full conversion yet for boring skin issue reasons, but these brands are ones I've tried and really liked!
excellent feedback!! thank you so much amy!!
